The modem card was installed into PCI slot #2. After system start Windows XP detected the modem as "Agere
Systems PCI Soft Modem". Windows Update offered to update the driver.
Driver provider: Agere
Date: 6/29/2004
Version: 2.1.41.10
PCI device ID: 048C |
 |
|
Power management settings: the modem can bring the computer out of
power states S1, S2, S3, S4 as long
as the BIOS is configured
accordingly. |
 |
The Windows XP modem drivers on the included CD are version 2.1.47.0
(date 10/8/2004). They were not installed since newer drivers are available
here
with premium access.
Installed Windows XP drivers version 2.1.54. This driver supports audio
pass-through to the sound card, i.e., instead of hearing the phone audio
through the modem's speaker, the sound is playing through the sound card.
The CD also contains:
- An OEM version of the Panda Software's FaxTalk Communicator SE 4.5 fax
and voice telephony application.
After installation, the system
hung intermittently. Also, if a phone is connected to the modem's second
connector, the line is not released by the modem after a call. Uninstalled
the application.
- FaxTalk NetOnHold - if your ISP supports the V.92 protocol, then you can receive and place voice calls while the modem is
still connected to the Internet. A similar application "Modem On Hold" is
available from the
modem
site. Neither modem-on-hold application was tested.
The following modem application was installed:
- Windows XP component "Fax Services" allows sending and receiving
faxes. Install from
Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs ->
Add/Remove Windows Components. Besides sending and receiving faxes
the fax service can be configured to monitor incoming calls which displays
a balloon text with the caller ID number.
